## Editorial
The European Environment Agency is an EU environmental agency established under Council Regulation (EEC) No 1210/1990 in 1990 and operational from Copenhagen since 1994.[^s1] It provides independent environmental knowledge and data for policy-makers and the public, works through the Eionet network, and covers 32 member countries plus Western Balkans partner countries.[^s2] In Earth observation, EEA is a coordinating and dissemination body for European land and in-situ environmental information services, including satellite-derived land products such as CORINE Land Cover, Urban Atlas and High Resolution Layers.[^s3][^s2] EEA does not own or operate satellites; its value is policy-facing environmental data, indicators, reporting and service coordination.[^s2][^s3]
