## Editorial
Scanway S.A. is a Polish optical instrument manufacturer headquartered in Wroclaw, specialising in the design and production of compact optical payloads for smallsats and scientific missions. The company builds the SOP (Scanway Optical Payload) family of telescopes, spanning 50 mm to 450 mm aperture, for Earth observation and planetary imaging applications. All instruments are designed and manufactured in-house using ITAR-free components, targeting the growing European and global smallsat market.

Four SOP instruments have achieved flight heritage as of 2026. The SOP 3U/50 flew on STAR VIBE (January 2023), Scanway's own first in-orbit demonstration mission on a 6U CubeSat, validating Earth observation and satellite self-inspection capabilities at TRL-9. The SOP 1U/65 flew on the ESA-partnered OTTER mission (2022), a DLR-led CubeSat demonstrating optical vessel-position verification. The SOP 120 is the payload for the PIAST dual-use nanosatellite constellation (Polish Ministry of Defense / WAT / CBK PAN), operational in orbit for national Earth observation. The SOP 200, the largest domestically designed EO telescope in Poland at the time of delivery, flew on EagleEye (launched August 16, 2024), a microsatellite achieving approximately 1 metre GSD from 350 km altitude in VIS and NIR bands.

Scanway's contracted pipeline extends to lunar and planetary missions. The SOP 120 has been adapted for the Chors lunar orbiter mission (Intuitive Machines, 2025-2027) as part of the Lunar Data Network, achieving 3.2 m GSD from lunar orbit. The SOP 300 is selected for the Mani lunar photometric mapper (University of Copenhagen, ESA Terrae Novae programme, Phase A). The SOP 450 is the highest-aperture instrument in development, targeting 0.8 m GSD with combined VIS/NIR and SWIR channels for the SEMOVIS mission (Marble Imaging, ESA InCubed programme, planned Q1 2026 launch). A camera system was also delivered for the YPSat payload on Ariane 6's inaugural flight (July 2024) for fairing-separation documentation.

Customers include ESA, DLR, Intuitive Machines (US), Nara Space Technology (South Korea), Marble Imaging, and Polish national defence and research institutions. The company reported 2025 revenue of approximately 21.4 million PLN (+80% year-on-year). Scanway debuted on the GPW NewConnect alternative market in October 2023 and transferred to the GPW Main Market (ticker: SCW) on March 27, 2026.[^scanway-home][^eagleeye-page][^starvibe-page][^piast-page][^otter-page][^chors-page][^semovis-page][^mani-page][^ypsat-page]
