## Editorial
EOS-01, formerly designated RISAT-2BR2, is an ISRO Earth observation satellite in the RISAT programme, launched on 7 November 2020 aboard PSLV-C49.[^isro-eo-satellites][^isro-satellites-2025] The mission carries an X-band SAR-X synthetic aperture radar with 1 to 8 m resolution and 10 to 50 km swath by mode.[^wmo-sar-x-risat] The satellite operates in a low Earth drifting orbit at approximately 555 km altitude and 37 degree inclination.[^wmo-eos-01] WMO OSCAR lists the mission as operational as of a February 2026 update; ISRO's April 2025 satellite status listing also confirms operational status.[^wmo-eos-01][^isro-satellites-2025] Applications include reconnaissance, disaster management, soil moisture estimation, flooding assessment, and land-cover change detection.[^isro-eo-satellites][^wmo-eos-01] Data are distributed offline through NRSC.[^isro-eo-satellites]
