## Editorial
Sentinel-5P (Precursor) is the Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor mission for atmospheric-composition monitoring, operated by ESA and launched on 13 October 2017 into a sun-synchronous orbit at 824 km altitude with a 13:30 local time of ascending node.[^sentiwiki-s5p][^esa-s5p]

The spacecraft carries TROPOMI (TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument), a passive grating imaging spectrometer built by Airbus Defence and Space with four spectrometer channels covering ultraviolet, visible, near-infrared, and shortwave infrared (270-2385 nm). TROPOMI delivers a 2,600 km swath with 5.5x3.5 km ground resolution (improved from 7x3.5 km in August 2019), providing daily global coverage. Primary data products measure column measurements of NO2, SO2, O3, CO, CH4, and HCHO (tropospheric, total-column, or column-averaged depending on the product), plus aerosol optical depth.[^eoport-s5p][^sentiwiki-s5p]

Sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence retrieval has been demonstrated as a secondary product from Sentinel-5P data under the TROPOSIF dataset, exploiting TROPOMI's spectral coverage of the Fraunhofer oxygen absorption bands. Sentinel-5P has operated beyond its 7-year design lifetime and remains in extended mission as of 2026.[^eoport-s5p]
