## Editorial
VIREON-1 is an Earth observation microsatellite operated by AAC Clyde Space, launched on 30 March 2026 aboard a SpaceX Transporter-16 rideshare. [^transporter16-satnews] It is based on the AAC EPIC VIEW 16U platform and carries a multispectral imaging payload with a 15 km swath. [^vireon-sdaas-page] The satellite operates in a Sun-synchronous orbit at approximately 500 km altitude. The operator describes the service as providing daily revisit cadence, though a specific numeric interval has not been disclosed. [^vireon-sdaas-page]

VIREON-1 is the first of a planned constellation. VIREON-2 launched as the second satellite on the same Transporter-16 mission. VIREON-3 and VIREON-4 were confirmed in procurement at the time of the Transporter-16 launch, though the total final constellation size has not been announced. [^vireon-ships-article] Imagery and data are offered through AAC Clyde Space's Space Data as a Service (SDaaS) platform. [^vireon-sdaas-page]
