## Editorial
SAR-2000 is the X-band synthetic aperture radar instrument used on the first-generation COSMO-SkyMed satellites, using active microwave imaging for multi-mode SAR collection.[^asi-csk-mission-products][^wmo-sar-2000] It operates at 9.60 GHz and supports HH, VV, HV, VH and paired HH/HV plus VV/VH polarisation configurations over a 20 to 50 degree incidence-angle range.[^wmo-sar-2000] Its mode set includes Spotlight, Stripmap HIMAGE, Stripmap PingPong, ScanSAR Wide Region and ScanSAR Huge Region.[^asi-csk-mission-products] The instrument supports 1 m Spotlight over 10 km, 3 m Stripmap HIMAGE over 40 km, PingPong over 30 km, and ScanSAR operation up to 200 km with 30 to 100 m resolution.[^asi-csk-mission-products][^wmo-sar-2000] SAR backscatter and InSAR surface deformation are demonstrated through COSMO-SkyMed, while polarimetric SAR decomposition is recorded as capable rather than demonstrated.[^asi-csk-mission-products][^wmo-sar-2000] Utilization is recorded from 2007 to 2026 on the four first-generation COSMO-SkyMed satellites.[^wmo-sar-2000]
