Azercosmos is Azerbaijan's national space agency and a public legal entity under Azerbaijan Transport and Communication Holding, with space-agency status granted in 2021.[1][2] Its Earth observation history centres on Azersky, the former SPOT-7 high-resolution optical satellite acquired in orbit in 2014 and operated under the Azersky name.[3][4] Azercosmos also distributed SPOT-6/7 imagery for the Caucasus and CIS region.[4] Communications with Azersky were lost on 17 March 2023, with a power-related failure suspected, so its EO operating history should be treated as past rather than current capacity.[5] A $120 million two-satellite high-resolution optical successor contract exists, with no confirmed delivery date.[6]
