Pasture and grazing
Pasture and grazing monitoring estimates forage biomass proxies, vegetation condition, cover composition, grazing capacity, and drought-stress context from vegetation indices, fractional cover, and rangeland time series.[1][2][3] Landsat rangeland applications use imagery and vegetation indices to assess rangeland health, productivity, forage production, and grazing management context.[1] USGS RCMAP quantifies rangeland component cover across the western United States using Landsat imagery over multi-decadal time series.[2][4] NASA HLS vegetation indices include greenness, moisture, water-stress, and biomass or stress indicators relevant to pasture and rangeland monitoring.[3]
