Wildfire
Wildfire EO separates active fire detection, burned-area mapping, smoke monitoring, fuel condition, and damage or severity assessment for fire-front to regional monitoring.[1][2] FIRMS distributes near-real-time active fire detections from MODIS and VIIRS thermal sensors.[2][3] Satellite data supports global systems for tracking fire behavior and analyzing wildfire trends, including MODIS and VIIRS active-fire and burned-area information.[1] Thermal anomaly sensors detect active fire hotspots and fire radiative signals, while vegetation-index mapping supports fuel condition, burn-severity proxies, and post-fire recovery.[1][2][3] Typical outputs include active fire alerts, hotspot confidence, burned-area maps, perimeters, severity proxies, and risk context.[1][2]
