Marine primary production
Marine primary production monitoring estimates phytoplankton biomass, chlorophyll-a, productivity anomalies, and carbon-cycle context from ocean-colour observations and primary-production models.[1][2] Chlorophyll-a is the main satellite product used to represent phytoplankton biomass in primary-productivity estimation and biogeochemical models.[1] NASA global chlorophyll maps use MODIS Aqua observations to show phytoplankton-rich regions and seasonal productivity patterns.[2] ESA Ocean Colour CCI provides multi-mission climate records of chlorophyll and related ocean-colour products used for primary-production science.[3][4]
