China National Space Administration

China National Space Administration (CNSA) is China's civil space agency, responsible for civil space management and international space cooperation.[1] It is a government institution, not a commercial spacecraft manufacturer, with headquarters at No. A8 Fucheng Road, Haidian District, Beijing.[1] As of April 24, 2026, named leadership included Director Shan Zhongde, deputy director Bian Zhigang, and chief engineer Li Guoping.[2] For Earth observation buyers, CNSA is most relevant as a programme authority, data-access sponsor, and international cooperation counterpart. The Gaofen high-resolution Earth observation project combines space, air, ground, and application elements. Supplier analysis should distinguish CNSA's programme role from spacecraft manufacturer or operating-centre roles.[3] CNSA announced the National Remote Sensing Data and Application Service Platform in 2022, with later research and business editions adding cloud research, algorithms, observation-demand coordination, emergency response, data push, collaborative product production, and online agile development.[4][5][6] Its access-governance role also covers international cooperation for lunar samples and scientific data, and its 2025 CBERS statement with Brazil covers Earth observation data sharing for Latin America and Caribbean countries.[7][8]
