European Union Satellite Centre
European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) is an EU Common Foreign and Security Policy body that produces geospatial intelligence from satellite and aerial imagery for EU decision-makers, CSDP missions, crisis management, humanitarian aid support, and early warning work.[1][2] It is based in Torrejon de Ardoz, Spain, and operates under a Board of member-state representatives chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.[1][3]
SatCen does not own or operate satellites; its role is imagery exploitation and GEOINT production using imagery from commercial, Copernicus, and allied government sources.[2] For institutional buyers and partners, SatCen is best understood as an analysis and tasking customer rather than a spacecraft operator, with outputs including satellite image analysis reports, maps, GIS products, and assessments for EU security and crisis-response users.[1][2]
