South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is South Africa's government space agency, established on 9 December 2010 under the South African National Space Agency Act of 2008.[1][2] It reports to the Department of Science and Innovation and operates programmes in Earth observation, space operations, space science, and space engineering.[2] SANSA's EO-relevant mission record includes SumbandilaSat, an 82 kg microsatellite launched on 17 September 2009 with an MSI multispectral imager, and ZACube-2, a 3U CubeSat launched on 27 December 2018 with a medium-resolution imager, AIS, and near-infrared forest-fire detection payload.[3][4] ZACube-1 and ZACube-2 should be treated as collaboration cases with CPUT/F'SATI rather than direct SANSA-operated EO assets.[5][4]
