USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service provides official statistics for U.S. agriculture, including production, supplies, prices, labor, finances, producer demographics, planted area, yield, stocks, and prices.[1] In Earth observation, NASS is a public-sector data consumer and analysis producer rather than a satellite operator.[2] Its Cropland Data Layer is an annual crop-specific land-cover raster for the contiguous United States, available through CropScape and Google Earth Engine.[2] The 2024 CDL uses Sentinel-2 MSI Level-2A and Landsat 8/9 OLI imagery, random-forest classification in Google Earth Engine, full CONUS coverage from 2008, and 10 m resolution in 2024.[3] NASS also maintains vegetation, soil-moisture, cropland research, and crop-sequence products for agricultural monitoring workflows.[2]
