ESA Sea State CCI L2P significant wave height

The ESA Sea State CCI L2P Significant Wave Height product (v3, DOI 10.5285/8cb46a5efaa74032bf1833438f499cc3) is a climate data record of along-track significant wave height (SWH) derived from multiple satellite radar altimeters, produced under the ESA Climate Change Initiative (CCI) Sea State project.[1][2]

The product harmonises SWH retrievals from radar altimeters aboard ESA missions including Envisat, CryoSat-2, and Sentinel-3A, together with the Jason-1, Jason-2, and Jason-3 missions, and ISRO/CNES SARAL/AltiKa, covering the period from 2002 to 2020 per the Product User Guide. Each altimeter record is inter-calibrated, reprocessed with consistent algorithms, and delivered as L2P per-pass along-track data in standard CF/Unidata format with per-measurement uncertainty estimates.[1][3] The product page states coverage from multiple ESA and international altimetry missions without exhaustively listing every contributing mission.[1]

Distribution is open access through the ESA CCI data portal. The record is intended for climate trend analysis, wave model validation, and satellite cross-calibration studies.[3]
