The Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) Earth-observation Covariates are MODIS-derived, gap-filled environmental covariate layers at 1 km spatial resolution, distributed via Google Earth Engine under the MAP publisher account.[1] The current v061 dataset family includes monthly Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) composites with a confirmed start date of 2001-02, derived from the Terra and Aqua MODIS instruments.[2] Additional covariate layers include Tasseled Cap Brightness and Tasseled Cap Wetness at 1 km; temporal start dates for those layers are not individually confirmed. Gap-filling follows the automated GIS-based methodology described in Weiss et al. (2014), which produces spatially and temporally complete surfaces from MODIS time series.[3] Earlier 5 km versions of these datasets remain available in GEE under separate asset IDs; the v061 1 km versions supersede them for current use.[2] The product is licenced under CC-BY-NC-SA. Access is open via the Google Earth Engine data catalogue.
