Pixxel Firefly hyperspectral imagery is a commercial L2A surface reflectance product derived from the Pixxel Firefly satellite constellation operating in VNIR.[1] The instrument captures 135 bands according to Pixxel's documentation portal;[1] Pixxel marketing materials reference 150 bands.[2] Spectral coverage spans 470 to 900 nm per operator engineering documentation;[1] the Pixxel Firefly product page cites 450 to 900 nm.[2] Ground sampling distance is 5.4 m per Pixxel's technical documentation;[1] marketing references cite 5 m.[2]

Delivery is tasked-only with no global standing archive; buyers specify an area of interest and acquisition parameters at order time.[3] According to Pixxel constellation documentation reviewed in May 2026, delivery is limited to approximately 45 user-selected bands per capture rather than the full 135-band capture. Atmospheric correction is performed using a variant of the ISOFIT model referred to as piSOFIT, which applies Bayesian priors and delivers a per-pixel uncertainty layer alongside the reflectance product, according to Pixxel support documentation as of May 2026.[4]

VNIR-only spectral coverage means SWIR diagnostic features for clays, carbonates, sulphates, and phyllosilicates are not accessible from this product. No published cross-calibration documentation with EnMAP, PRISMA, EMIT, or Sentinel-2 reflectance products has been identified. Data access is managed through the Aurora Earth Observation Studio portal.[5]
