ROM SAF Radio Occultation Products

ROM SAF Radio Occultation Products are Level 2 atmospheric profile products distributed by EUMETSAT through the ROM SAF Product Archive.^[1][2] The product family converts radio-occultation observations into geophysical variables used by numerical weather prediction, climate monitoring, and profile research, including refractivity, temperature, pressure, and humidity.^[2][3] Files are provided in netCDF and BUFR formats, with access through the ROM SAF archive and free access after registration where required.^[2][3] The product fits cases where the need is vertical atmospheric sounding rather than map imagery. It is an orbital data product, so evaluation should focus on profile variables, latency class, and archive stream rather than scene footprints or surface raster characteristics.^[2][3] The archive includes near-real-time, offline, climate-data-record, and interim-climate-data-record streams, so latency and homogeneity depend on the selected stream.^[2][3]
