The ICEYE SAR constellation is an operational commercial X-band synthetic aperture radar system operated by ICEYE, a Finnish satellite company. The first satellite, ICEYE-X1, launched on 12 January 2018.[1] Satellites fly in sun-synchronous orbit and support on-demand tasking for all-weather, day-and-night imaging.

The constellation uses the ICEYE SAR sensor operating at 9.65 GHz (X-band). Generation 3 satellites achieve ground resolution as fine as 0.5 m. Available imaging modes include Spot, Spot Fine, SLEA, Dwell, Dwell Fine, Strip, and Scan. A Scan Wide mode released in 2025 extends swath coverage to 150-400 km for Generation 4 satellites.[2][3][4]

Application domains include flood mapping and monitoring, sea-ice characterisation, oil-spill detection, disaster damage assessment, and maritime domain awareness. The constellation supports SAR backscatter analysis and SAR change detection workflows.
