RNLAF SAR-1 is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite delivered by ICEYE to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) under a contract announced 2025-06-23.[^iceye-rnlaf-pr] It is the first satellite in a four-satellite agreement between ICEYE and the RNLAF, and per the ICEYE press release it represents the first Dutch military satellite mission.

RNLAF SAR-1 was launched 2025-06-23 on a SpaceX Transporter-14 rideshare mission from Vandenberg SFB.[^iceye-transporter14] It operates in a Sun-synchronous orbit. The satellite is based on the ICEYE Gen4 SAR architecture, which features a doubled SAR antenna and doubled radiated power compared to Gen3, a 150-400 km swath, and 25 cm azimuth resolution in Dwell Precise mode. ICEYE's constellation operates in C-band; the specific frequency configuration of the RNLAF units has not been confirmed in available press materials.[^iceye-rnlaf-pr]

The RNLAF ground segment includes a fixed antenna installation in the Netherlands and a mobile ground segment with an intelligence processing hub.[^iceye-rnlaf-pr] The mission is described as providing sovereign ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) capability using non-ITAR technology to enable NATO cross-tasking and sharing with European allied nations.[^iceye-rnlaf-pr] Three further satellites under the same contract have not been assigned public launch dates as of the research date.[^iceye-rnlaf-pr] [^airforce-technology]
