ORCA can produce medium-high GSD thermal orthos for discriminating water, rocks, vegetation types and low-albedo man-made structures.
ORCA Medium Class Thermal Orthos is an airborne thermal imagery product from SkyfloX, produced by the ORCA aircraft payload using a COTS thermal sensor. Outputs are georeferenced orthorectified thermal images intended for discriminating surface materials including water bodies, bare rock, vegetation types, and low-albedo man-made structures.[1] The ESA DOCS-2 commercialisation project documents a 15-metre GSD thermal product for the Block I ORCA design; the specific thermal sensor model and infrared band (LWIR or MWIR) have not been publicly disclosed by the operator.[2] Applications include land surface temperature retrieval, thermal anomaly detection, and urban heat-island studies.[1][2]
