XRT High-Energy Optics Simulation is cosine's Geant4-based software tool for simulating X-ray and gamma-ray imaging systems, surface scattering, metrology models, and detector-plane image patterns.
XRT High-Energy Optics Simulation (also marketed as XRTG4) is a Geant4-based Monte Carlo ray-tracing software tool from cosine for simulating X-ray and gamma-ray imaging systems.[1] The software models X-ray optics surface scattering, metrology input models, and detector-plane image patterns, enabling prediction of telescope point-spread functions and effective area curves during instrument design.[2] It has been applied to programmes including XMM-Newton, IXO, and ATHENA Silicon Pore Optics development, as well as synchrotron beamline design.[1][3] XRTG4 is distributed as a PC-based software package accompanied by training, and cosine offers simulation services alongside the tool itself.[1] The software supports development of future space instruments that will operate at X-ray wavelengths; it does not process Earth observation imagery or deliver geophysical products directly.[1]
