KP Labs Oryx flight software for satellite onboard data-processing systems.

Oryx is a modular onboard software (OBSW) stack developed by KP Labs for satellite mission and payload management. The architecture comprises component libraries covering logging, scheduling, testing, communication, fault detection and recovery (FDIR), command and data handling (C&DH), payload control, bandwidth optimisation, and onboard data processing with hardware acceleration support.[1]

Oryx supports RTEMS real-time operating system (confirmed on the NASA IMAP GLOWS deployment) and Linux-compatible configurations. It is designed to run on KP Labs hardware platforms including the Antelope, Leopard, and Lion DPU lines.[1]

Flight heritage includes two missions. On Intuition-1, a 6U CubeSat developed by KP Labs and launched in November 2023, Oryx served as mission and payload OBSW.[2] On the NASA IMAP GLOWS instrument (Lyman-alpha photometer aboard IMAP, launched 2025), Oryx provided instrument OBSW in a RTEMS-based implementation developed between 2021 and 2024.[1]

The KP Labs company record and the operator Oryx product page each name one of these missions; whether a single document covers both simultaneously was not confirmed from a single primary source.[1][2]
