Ocean Color Monitor 3

Ocean-colour passive optical payload flown on EOS-06 / Oceansat-3.

Sensor

Ocean Color Monitor 3 is the passive optical VNIR ocean-colour multispectral radiometer carried on EOS-06 / Oceansat-3.[1][2] It provides 13 optical bands at 360 m spatial resolution over a 1400 x 1400 km swath.[2][3] The current post-launch spectral envelope is 402-1020 nm, with band centers from 412 to 1010 nm; earlier planning material used 407-1020 nm for the same instrument family.[2][3] OCM-3 continues the Oceansat ocean-colour record after OCM-1 and OCM-2, while adding optical bands used for fluorescence and atmospheric-correction applications.[1][2] Its demonstrated use includes ocean-colour water-leaving radiance retrieval on Oceansat-3.[2] For buyers, the instrument is most relevant when medium-resolution ocean colour, wide-swath coverage and continuity with the Indian Oceansat data record are more important than hyperspectral channel density.
