Sea Surface Temperature Monitor
Sea-surface temperature thermal payload flown on EOS-06 / Oceansat-3.
Sea Surface Temperature Monitor is the SSTM payload on EOS-06 / Oceansat-3 [1][2]. It is a two-channel thermal infrared radiometer for sea-surface temperature, with bands at 10.75-11.25 um and 11.75-12.25 um [3]. The instrument has a 1.08 km ground sample distance and 1440 km swath for the sea-surface-temperature measurement design [3]. It is not in operation at present because of a scan-mechanism technical problem [2]. The operational caveat matters for data-continuity assessment because the design supports thermal sea-surface-temperature retrieval, while current operation is unavailable [2][3].
