AfriGEO is the Africa Group on Earth Observations, a regional GEO caucus established in 2014.[1][2] It is a consortium and coordination forum rather than a satellite operator. RCMRD hosts the secretariat in Nairobi, with secretariat operations beginning in May 2019 after appointment at the 3rd AfriGEO Symposium in Gabon.[1] The caucus covers 32 African GEO member states and 11 regional institutions, aligning regional EO capacity building with GEO and African Union Commission priorities.[1][2] For buyers and partners, AfriGEO is relevant as a convening layer for African Earth-observation programmes, capacity building, and symposium-led coordination, including the Nairobi 2024 and Senegal 2025 symposium cycle.[3]
