Meandair

Meandair is a Dutch weather-nowcasting company founded in 2018 and headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands.^[1] The company provides near-real-time weather data and APIs for aviation, renewable energy and related industries through its Nowcasting Weather Engine, which combines satellite imagery, ground and airborne sensor data, and numerical weather prediction to deliver forecasts on a minutes-to-hours horizon.^[2]

Core products include the Meandair Nowcasting Weather Engine, Weather Data Services (near-real-time cloud, precipitation, thunderstorm, wind and icing layers delivered via API),^[3] and AirportWeather.com, a global airport weather platform powered by the engine.^[4] The Radair4D application demonstrated aviation route-planning around adverse weather during an ESA Space Solutions demonstration project.^[5]

Meandair participated in ESA BIC Noordwijk from 2018 to 2021.^[6] The ESA Space Solutions project was completed with KNMI and S&T as collaborators; SkyDemon licensed custom Meandair weather products following that project.^[5] Partners listed on the operator homepage include ESA, KNMI, S&T, SBIC Noordwijk, Netherlands Space Office and EASA.^[4]

Meandair's relevance to Earth observation is ancillary: the company uses meteorological satellite data as one input to its nowcasting service but does not operate satellites or distribute primary EO imagery.
