Northrop Grumman is a US defence and aerospace company with a substantial space systems division.^[1] The company designed and manufactured the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS), a cross-track microwave sounder built for NASA and NOAA under the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) programme.^[2]^[3] ATMS provides atmospheric temperature and moisture profiling from polar orbit, and first-year on-orbit performance was documented after its initial deployment.^[4]
