SERVIR is an Earth observation applications collaborative that helps regional institutions turn satellite and geospatial information into services for climate, disaster, food-security, and water decisions.[1] Its concept dates to 2001, and its first operational hub launched in 2005, making 2005 the practical founding year for the network's service model.[2] The collaborative expanded through regional hubs between 2007 and 2024 and currently presents six hubs as the core of its operating model.[2][1] After U.S. government funding ended in 2025, SERVIR continued as an independent, regional-led collaborative rather than as the earlier bilateral programme.[2][3] For operational evaluation, SERVIR is best understood as a service and capacity network, not as a satellite owner or mission operator.[1]
