Copernicus Marine Global Ocean L3 spectral wave parameters

The Copernicus Marine Global Ocean L3 Spectral Wave Parameters product (ID WAVE_GLO_PHY_SPC_L3_NRT_014_009) provides along-track L3 wave spectral parameters derived from the CFOSAT (China-France Oceanography SATellite) mission and distributed by the Copernicus Marine Service.[1]

CFOSAT carries the SWIM (Surface Waves Investigation and Monitoring) instrument, a rotating-beam wave scatterometer that measures directional ocean wave spectra directly. The L3 product delivers per-orbit, geolocated spectral parameters including significant wave height, wave period at variance spectral-density maximum, wave direction at variance spectral-density maximum, and wave spectrum, covering the global ocean on the satellite track.[1]

CFOSAT is the sole source mission for this product. The data are provided in near-real-time (NRT) cadence and distributed open access through the CMEMS data portal under the Copernicus Marine licence.[1]
