Copernicus Marine Global Ocean daily gridded L3 sea-surface winds

The Copernicus Marine Global Ocean Daily Gridded L3 Sea Surface Winds product (ID WIND_GLO_PHY_L3_NRT_012_002, DOI 10.48670/moi-00182) provides daily-composited, globally gridded L3 ocean surface wind speed and direction observations from multiple satellite scatterometers, distributed by the Copernicus Marine Service.[1][2]

Input observations come from the ASCAT scatterometers aboard Metop-A, Metop-B, and Metop-C (EUMETSAT), which provide C-band radar backscatter converted to 10 m neutral wind vector. Additional scatterometer missions contributed to the composite include ISRO Scatsat-1 (OSCAT-2), ISRO Oceansat-3 (OSCAT-3), and NSOAS HY-2B, HY-2C, and HY-2D (HSCAT), though those mission rows are not yet in the EO-Atlas catalogue.[1] The gridded output is available at 0.5-degree, 0.25-degree, and 0.125-degree global grids, with 0.125 x 0.125 degrees as the product spatial resolution.

Variables include 10 m equivalent neutral wind speed, eastward and northward wind components, and associated quality flags. The product is near-real-time (NRT) and is freely accessible via the CMEMS data portal under the Copernicus Marine open-data licence.[1]
