Express Image Processing is a Simera Sense processing option that uses satellite and camera metadata with pre-flight characterisation datasets to geolocate imagery and apply basic radiometric and interband corrections.
Express Image Processing is a rapid-turnaround ground-segment processing service from Simera Sense that converts raw sensor data from the xScape instrument family into georeferenced, corrected imagery using pre-flight calibration coefficients and satellite telemetry.[1] The processing chain spans L0 decompression, L1B radiometric correction and sensor-geometry georeferencing, and L1C orthorectification to a projected output. Rational Polynomial Coefficients are generated to support downstream geometric operations.
Calibration relies on pre-flight lab characterisation data rather than in-flight vicarious calibration. This design prioritises speed and low operational overhead, making Express suitable for initial image assessment, rapid delivery pipelines, and applications where laboratory characterisation accuracy is sufficient.[1] Interband geometric correction is applied to correct for spectral-band misregistration inherent in multi-detector array designs.
The underlying processing software is provided by VITO Remote Sensing.[1] Satellite operators requiring in-flight radiometric recalibration and cross-sensor validation can upgrade to the Advanced Image Processing service, which adds vicarious calibration against reference sites and Sentinel-2 cross-validation.
