Airbus AstroBus-M-derived Earth-observation satellite platform used for the SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 commercial imaging satellites.

The SPOT 6/7 Platform is a high-resolution optical Earth-observation satellite bus designed and manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space, derived from the Airbus AstroBus-L platform family (also designated AstroSat-250).[1] The platform carries the SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 commercial imaging satellites, which are identical units phased 180 degrees apart in the same sun-synchronous orbit.[2]

Airbus press material published in February 2016 cites a launch mass of approximately 720 kg per satellite.[1] In the two-satellite operational configuration, the constellation provides an acquisition capacity of six million square kilometres per day.[1] The SPOT 6/7 commercial imagery page markets 1.5 m resolution optical products from the pair.[3]

The AstroBus-L lineage underpins additional missions including KazEOSat-2 and Ingenio, and the AstroBus-L 250 M variant flies on Sentinel-5P, which draws on SPOT 6/7 heritage. The line reflects more than two decades of accumulated in-orbit operation.[1]
