ISISPACE S-Band Patch Antenna

The ISISPACE S-Band Patch Antenna is a passive CubeSat antenna covering the 2200-2290 MHz commercial S-band downlink allocation for telemetry or payload data transmission.^[1] The design uses a Rogers PCB substrate and meets IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards for PCB and assembly quality, as stated by ISISPACE.^[1][2] Flight heritage was established in 2021 per the ISISPACE product page.^[1]

The antenna provides a boresight gain of 6.5 dBic at center frequency, a half-power beam width of 100 degrees, return loss above 10 dB across the operating band, and an axial ratio below 3 dB within +/-50 degrees of boresight.^[2] Polarisation is right-hand circular (RHCP) and RF power handling is rated at 2 W.^[2]

The antenna has a circular footprint of 80 mm diameter and a profile of 5.0 mm without the connector, rising to 9.5 mm with the straight SMA connector fitted.^[2] Mass is below 60 g.^[1] Operating temperature range is -20 to +50 deg C.^[2] ISISPACE states compatibility with its S-band transmitters and with other manufacturers' systems.^[1]
