Space-based Space Situational Awareness (SB-SSA) camera derived from the xScape100 optical platform. Visible-spectrum full-motion camera designed to detect, track, and catalogue Resident Space Objects (RSOs) and support Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) threat assessment. Features 95 mm aperture, 2-arcsecond IFoV, sensitivity to 10-12.5 visual magnitudes, 10 cm resolution at 10 km range, and 360-degree steerable field of regard. Launched as a commercial product in May 2026. Flight model availability Q2 2027.

Sensor

The SSA Scape100 Full Motion is a visible-spectrum camera designed for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) from orbit, built by Simera Sense. It is derived from the xScape100 optical platform heritage and was commercially launched in May 2026, with flight model availability scheduled for Q2 2027.[1]

The instrument is designed to detect, track, and catalogue Resident Space Objects (RSOs) and to support Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) threat assessment. Its primary figure of merit is angular resolution: the sensor provides a 2-arcsecond instantaneous field of view and a sensitivity range of 10 to 12.5 visual magnitudes. At a proximity range of 10 km it achieves 10 cm cross-range resolution, a figure meaningful to in-orbit proximity operations rather than to Earth-surface imaging. The camera features a 360-degree steerable field of regard and uses a 95 mm aperture optical system.[1][2]

The spectral range is visible (the press release describes it as visible-spectrum but does not specify the band limits in nanometres). The sensor acquires full-motion video to enable tracking of non-cooperative RSOs.[1]

A 2025 announcement from Infinite Orbits referenced a Simera Sense SSA payload for the Orbit Guard mission; whether that payload is the SSA Scape100 specifically has not been confirmed in available materials as of May 2026, as the SSA Scape100 was announced after the Infinite Orbits press release.[1]
